Attention WVU Marching Band members:
As you are probably aware, on Wednesday, October 3, Marvin Hamlisch, the award-winning composer, musician, and conductor, will perform a concert with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at the Creative Arts Center.
This is a wonderful opportunity to hear a world-renowned orchestra and student tickets are only $12, which is an incredible bargain. I hope you will be able to attend this very special concert.
We are also trying to fill the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theatre that
night, since Maestro Hamlisch has promised to lead the Pittsburgh
Symphony in a performance of the WVU fight song, “Hail West Virginia,”
if every seat is filled. It is my hope that we can have every single
member of the WVU Marching Band, “the Pride of West Virginia,” in the
audience that night to stand up and cheer after this performance, which
promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
In addition to this pops concert on Oct. 3 there will also be two
classical concerts at the CAC by the Pittsburgh Symphony, one featuring
Sir Andrew Davis and cellist Anne Martindale Williams on Dec. 6, and
the last concert featuring renowned violinist Sarah Chang on Feb. 11.
Right now, tickets are only available by calling the Pittsburgh
Symphony at 800/743-8560 or going online at www.pittsburghsymphony.org .
However, tickets also will be available in the CAC lobby prior to each
performance.
Thank you and I hope to see you at the symphony!
Sincerely,
Bernie Schultz
