Kappa Kappa Psi Needs You

Greetings fellow Pride Members!

I hope everyone had a safe and happy summer and are eagerly anticipating the start of the 2008 edition of The Pride of West Virginia! I would like to take this moment to speak to you about a group of individuals who work behind the scenes to make sure things in the WVU Bands move efficiently. These individuals will be the first people you are greeted by at band camp registration. These individuals are the Brothers of the Omicron Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi.

Kappa Kappa Psi is a National Co-Ed Honorary Band Fraternity who has been serving the bands at WVU since 1926. Our main goal is to serve the band programs at WVU, helping them succeed and flourish. We provide service in many different ways - a few of them being; working a freshman orientation, working in the uniform room, and putting music and registration packets together. While our main focus is the WVU Bands, we also strive to promote musicianship in the community by working with children at after-school programs and visiting the WVU Children's Hospital among other things.

The service that the Omicron Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi provides is recognized nationally. For 7 out of the last 8 biennium the Omicron Chapter has been a finalist for Top Chapter in the Nation. Also this past year the Omicron chapter received the Governors Cup for being most improved chapter in the Northeast District!

The membership process for Kappa Kappa Psi is simple and easy. Kappa Kappa Psi starts their recruitment activities in the middle of the band season, with an application process and Rush Week activities. During last year's Rush we had many exciting activities that were great fun. While we are still in the planning stages for this year's Rush we can guarantee that a great time will be had by all. Rush events are open to any member of the WVU Bands to come and learn what Kappa Kappa Psi has to offer.

I can speak from the heart when I say it is an honor to not only be a part of the WVU Band, but also a brother of the Omicron chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi. In being a brother of this fraternity I not only have found some of my best friends I also provide a service to the bands that I am truly proud of. Because of these reasons I invite you to become a member of this proud organization of Kappa Kappa Psi in our continual service to the WVU Bands. This invitation is open to all members of the WVU Band program, not just freshman, come and see what Kappa Kappa Psi has to offer.

I hope to see everyone in August and remember if you have any questions, problems, or need anything at all, look for the people in the KKY shirts, they are more than willing to help!
